Invited by Dr. Michelle LaRue and hosted by the University of Canterbury, I presented a screening of Secrets of the Penguins: Heart of the Emperor and spoke about filming in Antarctica with Producer Heather Cruickshank. The Days of Ice celebration opens up the Antarctic research season in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I taught an afternoon wildlife cinematography workshop at NEWF Congress 2025 with Ivan Agerton and Erin Ranney. We reviewed color theory, composition, lighting, sequence-building, and practiced building a long-lens camera rig.

I love doing ship-to-shore interactions while I’m a video engineer aboard Dr. Robert Ballard’s Exploration Vessel Nautilus. These are live web interactions with school kids from around the world where science communicators and ship crew get to share about the science and exploration during deep sea expeditions.

As part of Africa Refocused, NEWF holds workshops aimed at teaching all roles in documentary production. Along with Manu Akatsa and William Donaruma, I taught a week-long all-women’s cinematography workshop at the Bayala Game Reserve in South Africa, aimed at teaching wildlife camera skills to women from across Africa.

I provided a wildlife filmmaking perspective while mentoring a REDucation course that took place in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

I spoke about field readiness and shared stories from the field at NEWF Congress in Durban, South Africa on a panel with other industry professionals.

Inspiring kids to love animals and be curious about the world around them, as well as learn about different career paths, is a big motivation for me. I got to speak to my nephew’s class of bright 10 year olds in Paris, France and share about my career and stories as a wildlife documentary cinematographer.

The Wildlife Camerawomen Community is a group of diverse cinematographers from around the world. As a leader in this organization, I work with others to host workshops and meetups for group members. This weekend workshop in Washington, USA in 2024 taught skills in long-lensing, camera trapping, and field readiness.

During the 2025 Jackson Wild Film Summit I presented a session about the Wildlife Cinematographer Diversity Fund, a non-profit I’m a leading member of that aims to promote gender diversity behind the lens in wildlife documentary filmmaking.

During the 2023 Jackson Wild Film Summit I spoke on a cinematography panel about my years filming The Biggest Little Farm: The Series and The Biggest Little Farm: The Return.
